About Camden

Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We're home to the most important conversations happening today and we're making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here's where you can help decide a better future for us all.

About the team/service

Our Adult Community Learning team is committed to reaching our most disadvantaged and isolated residents by providing community-based learning, tailored to the needs of the students. We work with a range of community partners where we deliver a range of courses, including ESOL. Being a diverse borough means that there is a huge need for ESOL classes, particularly in the community. Our team's aim is to provide classes to meet the need, empowering residents to access local services, college courses and employment.

What You'll Be Doing / How You'll Be Involved

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced tutors to teach accredited and non-accredited ESOL English classes (reading, writing, speaking and listening) at Pre-entry to Entry Level 2 within community venues. The courses usually run for 2-4 hours per week in each venue, but it is possible you will work in various venues across Camden which could total 12 hours per week. You will also be paid additional hours for any training session or meetings attended.

You will plan and develop courses using course outlines, schemes of work, lesson plans and appropriate hand-outs as well as designing high-quality learning activities to help students progress in their learning. This will involve assessing student's initial starting points, agreeing learning goals, monitoring their progression whilst providing regular feedback throughout their learner journey.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS. Please note Camden also offers the DBS update service.
