Engineer - Electrical Reliability

Location: Any UK Site

We are looking for an Electrical Reliability Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing assigned RQI electrical and software reliability projects. You will also assist in determining the root cause of failures and providing solutions. Additionally, you will identify design changes that can be implemented with the approval of lead engineers and principal engineers. These design changes will be made in CAD systems and undergo verification and testing to ensure they meet vehicle specifications. You will collaborate internally and externally across functions of the business to effectively contain projects and deliver solutions that meet business and customer requirements.

    Your Dream Role

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of reliability electrical projects by identifying and confirming the root cause, making design changes, developing and testing electrical system improvements, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Work independently on assigned projects or collaborate as part of a team on more complex projects.
  • Utilize and enhance problem-solving skills to identify the root cause and provide effective engineering design solutions.
  • Implement design solutions efficiently using CAD systems (3D / Solid Edge / E3 / Teamcenter) and BOM / parts management system, ensuring approval and signoff by Lead / Principal Engineers.
  • Conduct problem investigations, including containment, service solutions, and production solutions.
  • Ensure design projects align with common systems interfaces and principles, incorporating design modifications consistently across all vehicle platforms and territories. Encourage the reuse of parts and modular design concepts.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of electrical systems across the product range, focusing on key vehicle models.
  • Collaborate effectively with different functions to implement and verify design solutions, particularly with engineering design / test & development / Aftermarket service teams.
  • Directly interface with internal and external customers to ensure their satisfaction by providing safe, reliable, and well-supported problem solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant internal and international standards, best practices, and legislation.
  • Meet project delivery targets while maintaining effective documentation.
  • Manage and coordinate activities with internal and external partners or suppliers to achieve quality, cost, and delivery targets for each project.
  • When necessary, travel to customers, other ADL sites, or suppliers to support field investigations, assess failures, gather test/reliability data, and trial fit solutions.
  • Perform data analysis as needed to support problem investigation and resolution.
  • What you will Bring

  • HNC or Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or a related field. Preferably with a Six Sigma Green belt certification.
  • At least 3 years of experience, preferably in an automotive environment, focused on Electrical/Systems based Engineering.
  • Proficiency in 3D and electrical CAD software, with preference for Solid Edge & E3.
  • Experience in vehicle manufacture, design, or automotive aftermarket, with EV experience being advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office package.
  • Detailed understanding of vehicle electrical systems and controls, including experience with 24V / high voltage systems.
  • Experience in integrating and interacting with electrical systems to deliver effective reliability improvements.
  • Ability to work on structured project delivery using Reliability project management systems & processes, effectively defining actions and documenting project progress / delivery to plan.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills using 8D methodology or similar approaches.
  • Active interest in vehicle-based technologies and industry developments.
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong team player, capable of implementing effective solutions.
  • Positive, professional, and able to work independently without supervision.
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel.
