Pushing the boundaries of technology to drive world class battery systems for high performance applications is central to the company ethos. An opportunity has arisen for a talented Senior Engineer - Battery Performace to join the Battery Performance Team at an exciting time in both the Electrical Department and company’s expansion. Within the team, the successful applicant will be directly involved in projects across a wide range of sectors to enable the development of battery performance and safety.

What you’ll be doing in the job role:
  • Advancing cell-driven battery system performance and safety.
  • Generating data, design input and validation for WAE’s battery systems through battery testing, data analysis, modelling and simulations.
  • Conceptualisation of battery packs from system level requirements by cell selection and pack sizing activities.
  • Determining battery performance capabilities, limitations and improvement opportunities.
  • Tracking state-of-the-art cell technology and supporting cell supplier relationships
  • Representing WAE externally as a technical expert for ongoing project delivery as well as business development purposes.
  • Engaging with stakeholders at all levels of WAE, as well as external partnering academic and external organisations

You’ll have:
  • An engineering qualification (Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a STEM subject or equivilant) and relevant industry/academic experience.
  • Knowledge of battery cell technology.
  • Experience in battery pack sizing and performance simulations.
  • Experience in battery data analysis in MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with HV battery systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work inter and intra departmentally and build working relationships across the business.

Location:

We are based on the Williams technical campus in Grove, Oxfordshire. 20 minutes’ drive South of Oxford, UK. This role includes travel to customer and test sites as required.
