Endoscopy Decontamination Technician
One Ashford Hospital, Kent has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Endoscopy Decontamination Technician to join our friendly Theatres & Endoscopy team.
Reporting to the Endoscopy Lead & Theatre Manager, the successful candidate will assist the qualified nurses to care for patients following surgical, investigative or medical procedures in line with national guidelines, hospital policies and best practice standards in the Endoscopy & Theatre setting, including:
- Participating in admission, recovery and discharge of endoscopy patients, in accordance with unit policies and patient pathways, reporting to qualified staff as directed.
- Co-ordinating the use of the supplies and equipment during an endoscopy list and in the immediate post-operative phase of care ensuring the equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner
- Participating effectively in the preparation, maintenance, cleaning and disinfecting of all equipment and procedure rooms.
- Decontaminating all equipment after each procedure
- Supporting in an administrative capacity as and when required
Hours: 37.5 per week; shifts between 8am & 8pm Monday to Friday.
Endoscopy Decontamination Technician
Qualifications:
- Minimum GCSE education or equivalent
- NVQ or equivalent, Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care preferred
- Care Certificate
Experience:
- Ability to learn and develop and undertake appropriate NVQ or equivalent training
- Clinical experience in a healthcare setting
Skills:
- Patient focused; able to deliver a high standard of customer care
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
- Basic computer skills
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
Desirables:
- Endoscopy experience desirable but not essential
- Experience of decontamination desirable
- Understanding of GRS & JAG desirable but not essential
- Willingness to support both Endoscopy & Theatres as when needed.
