The team

Our News team delivers high quality and trustworthy television and online coverage that regularly attracts audiences in excess of 3.5 million viewers. It’s a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles and challenges on offer. We operate in 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit based in the heart of Westminster. And finally, we produce a range of current affairs & factual programming out of ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border.

The role

We are looking for an Early Presenter to join our broadcast and digital news team at ITV Anglia.

You will work as part of our Good Morning Britain opts production team alongside a studio director, writing scripts, editing content, making emergency checks, setting up stories, curating our website, creating social media content as well as presenting stories in an engaging and informative way to our early morning viewers. You may also have the opportunity to present our lunchtime bulletins.

The role of the Early Presenter is to define the look and feel of ITV Anglia news service, both on-air and online. Digital proficiency is essential - you will be expected to kick start our online presence, break stories on, as well as regularly update, our social media accounts. Later in the day, you may participate in and contribute to production and planning meetings.

As our Early Presenter, you will have an outstanding track record in journalism. You will be an accomplished live performer with a clear broadcast voice, an authoritative yet warm on-screen presence and an approachable style and manner both on and off screen. You will have proven experience as a journalist and be able to write for TV and online with equal brilliance. 

As a key member of our newsroom, you’ll keep up-to-date with the news agenda. You’ll be relied upon to make sure everything we broadcast or publish meets our strict compliance standards.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • Strong track record in journalism both on TV and online
  • Great live presenter
  • Significant experience in a busy newsroom environment
  • Thorough knowledge of media law, the Ofcom code and a sound understanding of editorial matters
  • Ability to build online audiences and keep them coming back
  • Ability to lead a team and support junior colleagues
  • Ability to self-edit and self-prompt
