Job summary

An exciting opportunity hasarisen for a Board level 3-year fixed term contract open to individualscurrently working across the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care System , reporting directly to the ChiefExecutive, accountable for the co-development, delivery, and oversight of ourorganisational improvement plan. Requiredto work across the organisation and beyond, encouraging commitment,collaboration and focus on the Trusts improvement plan.

The Executive team areresponsible for the day-to-day operational delivery and performance of theTrust, with the successful candidate being a key member of the team. Required towork collaboratively with executive colleagues, across their respectiveportfolios to ensure delivery of the overall improvement plan, encouraginginnovation and improvement across all elements of the Trust.

As a non-voting Board member, produceand present papers for Board and committees, as well as contributing to suchdiscussions on all aspects of their agendas.

A key part of the role isengaging and hearing from our staff, which will require regular and frequentengagement across a range of approaches, requiring the ability to travel aroundTrust sites, both in and out of office hours, as well as ensuring that keymessages are shared, consistent with our values.

Operate flexibly to undertakeany projects as required by the Chief Executive, will participate in the executivelevel of the Trusts on call rota.

Main duties of the job

The postholder is the lead for our Trust wide Improvementplan and will be required to ensure:

Delivery and stimulation of change and improvement:

  • Co-development and oversight of delivery of anorganisation wide Improvement Plan responding to the findings of the CareQuality Commission (CQC) and feedback from stakeholders, staff, patients,service users and carers.
  • Being a focal point for initiating, testing, andencouraging appetite for change and improvement within the Trust.
  • Work in partnership with all Directorportfolios, encouraging collaboration and operation to shared change goals asdescribed in the Trusts Improvement Plan
  • External affairs:

  • Proactively initiate and maintain relationshipswithin the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Integrated Care System (ICS), NHSEngland (regional and national where appropriate), the CQC and Healthwatch toensure visibility of and support for the Trust Improvement Plan and achievedpositive impacts.
  • Ensure events, communications, briefings andpresentations relating to the Trust Improvement Plan are coherent andconsistent with the implementation progress and forthcoming direction oftravel.
  • Operate flexibly assuming leadership of any portfolio ofwork as required by the Chief Executive.

    Act as a role model to colleagues, always seeking tomaintain the highest standards of professionalism.

    Contribute fully to the Trust Board and Trust workprogramme as a Director.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Masters level of qualification or equivalent specialist knowledge over more than one discipline/ function acquired over a significant period or advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of work procedures and practices in the specialist field of improvement, change or transformation.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

  • This post is restricted to individuals who currently work in an organisation which is part of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care System. Please confirm?
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Significant experience of, at a senior level, successfully building, leading, and delivering several (5 or more) examples of widescale improvement, change management or transformation within the NHS or other highly complex environment.
  • Significant experience of working and engaging with a variety of senior staff at Director and deputy Director level.
  • Experience of successfully working and being directly accountable to a Board Director for at least 4 years
  • Experience of improvement and change as well as project management work
  • Experience of managing multiple teams and budgets
  • Experience of taking the strategic lead on multiple concurrent, complex workstreams
  • Experience of operating flexibly at a senior level through both matrix and line management approach.
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Knowledge of Improvement, change management and transformation approaches and within large complex organisations.
  • Knowledge of project and programme management approaches
