Salary: NJC 24 - 27 £33,024 - £35,745 Actual Salary: £28,275 - £30,608 + AET Wellbeing Cash Plan + Pension Scheme (LGPS) + Additional AET Benefits

Hours of work: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Start Date: September 2024

End: Fixed term until August 2025

The role:

We are looking to appoint an inspirational, organised and ambitious Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team. The successful individual will work with the Principal to maintain an effective safeguarding culture across the school. The successful candidate will be taking the lead responsibility for all safeguarding and child protection matters arising at the school and will support all other staff in dealing with any child protection concerns that arise. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the school's safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring they are up to date and compliant with relevant legislation;
  • Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns and liaise with external agencies, as needed;
  • Organise and provide safeguarding training and support to all staff, ensuring they are well-informed and equipped to protect our students;
  • Maintain detailed records of safeguarding concerns and actions taken;
  • Work closely with the school's leadership team and external partners to develop strategies and initiatives that enhance the safety and wellbeing of our children;
  • Work proactively alongside the attendance team to address any concerns;
  • Attend academy health and safety meetings;
  • Attend trust network meetings for your own development and information sharing;
  • Support our children and families to feel safe and supported
  • The ideal candidate should have experience/ knowledge of:

  • Dealing with highly charged and emotional situations 
  • Liaising with families effectively
  • A record of strong support for the personal, social and emotional development of all pupils
  • Successful member of a team within a school setting
  • Detailed knowledge of latest Safeguarding responsibilities - Working together to safeguard children / Prevent strategy
  • Detailed knowledge of Child Protection policy and processes
  • The role is due to commence: September 2024
