The role:

  • Provide high level advice and recommendations to the Chief Allied Health Advisor and Health Executive members regarding the multiple statewide strategic allied health programs under the control of the position and complex and significant allied health professional issues.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of multiple statewide strategic allied health programs across the Department of Health and in partnership with other agencies and external stakeholders including setting the strategic direction that guides operational, business, program and/or project planning.
  • Analyse the political, social and operational environment, and engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to identify complex and significant allied health professional issues and strategic opportunities and make recommendations on strategies and approaches to resolve and/or remediate those that have highly significant corporate impact within the Department of Health, other agencies and external stakeholders. Recommendations may require the development of novel strategies and approaches, particularly where precedents and policy are limited.
  • Advocate for, and influence, strategic and operational decisions using expert negotiation and conflict management skills with internal and external stakeholders, particularly in response to complex and significant allied health professional issues in situations of differing interests.

    The team:

  • The Allied Health Strategy and Policy team is a small team, with a big impact across Tasmania.
  • This role reports to the Chief Allied Health Advisor and is supported by other team members to achieve the objectives of the role.
  • Details of Appointment

    Permanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

  • Position Feature:

    Some intrastate and interstate travel is required

    Location: Hobart, Tasmania

    Salary: $154,260 to $155,545 per annum + 11% superannuation 

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
  • AHP

    In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1,000 per annum or the ability to accrue fund up to five years.
  • Relocation assistance will be considered.
  • Eligibility:

    Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, eligible for membership with the relevant professional association.
  • Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications and/or extensive experience in health service administration, leadership, public policy and operations of government, and/or clinical or corporate governance.
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
