Hourly Paid Associates/workers (Teaching Related)

We are looking to engage with academic professionals across a wide range of different specialisms on an hourly paid basis. These hours are available on a short term, ad hoc basis, up to a maximum of 326 hours across the year, providing support to our students through a range of roles.

You will have experience in delivering and supporting Higher Education activities, at an undergraduate and postgraduate level, in subject specific and interdisciplinary contexts or have strong relevant industry knowledge and experience. You will have a positive approach and the ability to contribute to a team.

Specifically, we are looking for: 

  • Tutor in Digital Media : The Department is seeking a tutor to support on the BSc (Hons) Digital Media and Communications degree programme. Specifically, the programme requires a tutor to work on practice-led units entitled ‘Digital Asset Creation' and ‘Creative Asset Production'. Both units ask undergraduate first year and second year students to create content using a selection of media, moving images, photography, and audio. For this reason, we seek tutors with experience and knowledge in the teaching and use of cameras, video, and digital design software.
  • French language tutor : This is an exciting opportunity for a French language tutor to work in an academic department which delivers French language units to students who are embarking on a French degree programme and to students from across the University who opt to study the language. You must have prior experience teaching French within a higher education setting and have experience teaching the full range of language proficiencies. You will help students learn a new language or develop and improve existing language skills and observe how students grow in confidence as they acquire new skills.
  • Tutor in Library and Information Management : The Department requires a tutor to contribute to the MA Library and Information Management programme. Specifically, the programme seeks tutors to support with units focused on e-learning and health librarianship. Successful applicants will have either studied, worked, or taught in these areas with a high level of motivation to support postgraduate students in this programme. 
  • As an Hourly Paid Associate/ Worker in these roles you are required to have:

  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to plan and prioritise workload to meet objectives.
  • The ability to use initiative when dealing with a wide range of issues and problems, challenging decisions appropriately.
  • A degree or appropriate equivalent experience in your subject area, along with knowledge and understanding of the changing nature of HE
