An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Research Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team within the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility. The unit is a NHS research facility at Hammersmith Hospital in west London. It is located at the heart of one of the UK’s most research-intensive universities, Imperial College. It provides a dedicated, well-equipped and professional environment that enables medical staff and scientists to work together to investigate disease and trial the latest scientific ideas for improving diagnosis and treatment. The ICRF provides comfortable clinical accommodation for healthy volunteers and patients participating in studies requiring long-term 24h in-house monitoring as well as facilities for day case visits. It is equipped to cater for complex studies from across the range of medical disciplines and provides close proximity space for clinical research fellows, nurses and allied healthcare professionals. We expect the post holder to adapt to the required flexibility of our portfolio.

This role is providing clinical and professional leadership for a ward based team of research nurses and allied health care professionals. By working clinically as a member of the nursing team you will ensure a positive volunteer experience through the delivery of high standards of care and research governance.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Clinical Research Nurse you will have responsibility for the standards of care primarily in patient early phase trials and will be accountable for:

Leading research trials within the ward.

Securing and assuring the highest standards of both clinical care and research practice with the support of the Lead Nurse and Head of Clinical Studies.

The effective management of clinical and non-clinical risk reporting to the Lead Nurse within the departmental governance framework.

The unit specialises in early phase clinical studies in various disease areas as well as healthy volunteer trials. We host complex and challenging studies and we expect the post holder to adapt to the required flexibility of our portfolio. We would expect the post holder to work full time Monday to Friday. The post is fixed term due to research funding but we expect it to be extended.
