Allen & York aredelighted to be working exclusively with Forestry England torecruit for the inspirational and unique role of Curator atWestonbirt, The National Arboretum. This is a remarkableopportunity to be the guardian of Forestry England's renowned treecollection, nurturing and preserving the diverse beauty of over15,000 specimens.
The successful candidate willlead the tree team and its associated activities. You'll also be amember of the arboretum's senior leadership team where you'llcollaborate with other senior leaders to help set direction for thearboretum and promote cross team working.
Withyour artistic instinct and knowledge of woody plants, you'llcollaborate with professionals locally and globally, connectingpeople with trees to improve the quality oflife.
You'll hold a relevant professionalqualification to level 6 (degree level or chartered membership)with comprehensive experience of working at a curatorial level oryou will have sufficient experience in a Curatorial level rolewithin an arboreta, botanic garden or similar. With extensiveknowledge and understanding of planning, you'll be skilled inapplying current best practice to maintaining and developing abotanical collection and conservation techniques. An inspiringleader, you'll have a successful track record of performancemanagement with the ability to develop and support teams, creatinga collaborative culture. An excellent communicator, you'll beconfident inspiring others and representing Forestry Englandthroughout the UK and internationally in a range of differentsettings.
A Masters level qualification inbotany, horticulture, arboriculture, forestry or similar would beadvantageous to this role.
