The project: 

Rail and sponsored services are also responsible for maintenance and renewals on the TfL owned or leased parts of London overground. This includes all assets between Highbury and Islington to New Cross/New Cross Gate and station assets on the West Anglia lines. These maintenance and renewal activities are contracted to a 3rd party, the infrastructure maintenance contractor “IMC”.

  • You will work as part of the construction delivery team, taking direction from the construction lead and project senior leadership team.

  • You will build relationships to manage and influence stakeholders, both internally and externally.

  • You will build a strong working relationship with your clients and support the construction lead in turning the client’s vision into a deliverable onsite plan.

  • The maintenance delivery manager will be responsible for the safe and successful delivery of the works under his/her management, from the commencement on site to handover and completion.

  • Ensuring the IMC plans and manages works of all disciplines to ensure compliance with the relevant standards, safety cases ACAs etc.

  • Manage external and internal contractors/suppliers to deliver the works safely and within programme and budget. 

  • Reporting concerns from internal/external customers, the public, statutory undertakers, adjacent property owners etc. and implementing driven actions to satisfy the safety case and promote good PR.

  • Reporting to emergencies involving works, evaluating the problems, liaising and advising and implementing agreed remedial works to minimise adverse consequences to the business.

  • Examining options to address deficiencies in asset condition and making recommendations to fulfil the business needs.

  • Maintaining a contract and project control systems to monitor works, programmes and costs. 

  • Ensure that the TfL and industry standards are applied consistently so that quality of outputs is maintained. 

  • Liaison with IMC management to ensure effective co-ordination of works, projects, inspections and investigations.

  • Managing design contracts and interfaces using the maximo asset management system.

  • Plan, control and implement maintenance and renewal activities

  • Meet all requirements for safety, quality and value for money.

  • Report progress, slippages, opportunities and threats to the success of the asset management and renewals plans.

  • Meet the relevant specifications and agreed targets for cost and time scale

  • Ensure the IMC is providing value for money

  • Advise where renewals activities could be more economically delivered by others

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively advise senior management in respect of allotted tasks and risk management.

  • Experience of preparing of reports and make presentations.

  • General office management experience in a railway or comparable industries e.g. transport/asset management.

  • Experience of preparing budgets and forecasts in conjunction with the relevant line manager.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.

  • Good organisation and planning skills including a working understanding of project planning.

  • Good numerical skills.

  • Good team working and a flexible approach.

  • Experience of defining and prioritizing resource needs and planning accordingly. 

  • Proven delivery track record of management of site issues in a railway environment.

  • Experience of managing site diaries.

  • Experience of applying resources to different work packages.

  • Experience of preparing excel spread sheets, review reports and reporting procedures.

  • Be accountable for their own safety in the construction site environment (including site offices) and the operational railway.

  • London overground experience either from the supply chain or directly is highly desirable.

  • Experience of interfacing with asset management systems e.g Maximo.

  • Decide priorities of conflicting tasks.

  • Recommend, influence and gain acceptance to courses of action

  • Directs and prioritises co-ordination activities of the relevant project team.

  • The jobholder may work alone or with direct assistance and will have responsibility for a few tasks at any one time.

  • The jobholder must be able to influence others at all levels to achieve his / her objectives.

  • The Jobholder will need to be effective in the management of their workload ensuring that a high level of support is provided.

  • The jobholder will provide support to the construction delivery team and other staff involved with the project.

  • Day to day responsibility to be set by either the senior construction manager or any delegated senior manager.

  • The jobholder will need to liaise with the RSS health and safety managers to produce and maintain H&S documentation.

  • The job holder will need to liaise effectively with supply contractors for both method statement review process and construction planning look ahead.

  • You’ll also have:

  • Working towards membership of MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS/MICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.

  • Construction management expertise.

  • Developing commercial and financial acumen.

  • Experience leading parts of construction projects within large, diverse teams.

  • Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
