Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day running of the SSCM Helpdesk, advising on Purchase to Pay processes at DVLA and system access requests, liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure continued compliance with policies, procedures and targets.

You will manage the helpdesk for internal staff, which receives a vast range of queries. You will delegate these as appropriate, use your initiative and investigative skills to arrive at solutions, and provide sound advice to your team and customers. No two days will be the same, your work will be interesting, varied and challenging.

This role carries line management responsibilities of two team members. If you have not worked as a manager previously, we will help you to develop these skills. We are a supportive team and work well together to achieve successful outcomes. You will have opportunities to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including the police and other agencies as required.

Responsibilities�

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:�

  • To manage the supplier creation / supplier master file process on behalf of DVLA.
  • To act as a focal point on the Purchase To Pay (P2P) process and offer advice and guidance to key stakeholders across DVLA and the wider DfT family. Ensuring engagement with the DfT community through regular and focused communication.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the design and delivery of software changes to the SAP P2P landscape, ensuring business continuity is maintained. Implementing robust change control and testing processes, ensuring relevant scenarios are in place for the change control and testing of software changes emanating from the Shared Service provider.
  • Conduct regular data analysis as part of Management Information obligations and continuous improvement.
  • To ensure engagement with the P2P/Commercial community through regular and focused communications.

    This role will be based in Swansea, and we will be operating a hybrid working model that allows you to work between home and on-site giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work, subject to business needs and this also allows for ongoing support, development, and collaboration with colleagues.�

    Therefore, the expectation is that you will spend a minimum of 60% of your working time based at your principal workplace (DVLA). We would encourage you to discuss the working arrangements for this role with us during the recruitment process.�

    Person specification

    We are looking for someone experienced in data analysis, and a range of financial and Purchase to Pay processes and systems. If you are not already familiar with SAP, you will be trained to work with the system.

    Using your current financial knowledge and experience as a sound starting point, you will be ready to learn and develop further skills to enable you to excel in this role.

    Adaptability and excellent organisational skills are essential as you will be managing multiple priorities simultaneously, which can change on a regular basis.�

    You will be a strong advocate of change and continuous improvement, recognising the benefits of promoting a change culture within your team.

    You can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to tailor communication styles to provide effective guidance to a range of customers. You have a good eye for detail, and can think creatively in order to determine the best route for investigation, reach conclusions and achieve solutions.
