The role - Commercial Manager – Highways
This role is part of our Consult engine of the business.
Typical duties include:
• Commercial and Contract Management as required under the NEC suite of contracts.
• Responsibility for the management of all scheme costs and associated budgets
• Management of interim assessments, verification of defined cost and drive the application of disallowed costs where appropriate.
• Provision of specialist contractual advice on financial, time and or contractual related issues within the programme of works.
• Being a key senior interface with Client, stakeholders and suppliers at all project stages. Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost and commercial management procedures, templates, products and improve the services provided to the clients.
• Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to junior colleagues.
Your knowledge, experience and skills will include:
• Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice or main contractor in a similar role.
• Previous experience working with highways projects / frameworks and/or other major civil infrastructure projects.
• Understanding of government funded projects.
• Previous experience of managing people.
• Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on Contract Administration and commercial matters
• Strong understanding of industry best practices
• Understanding of emerging topics and issues such as Sustainability, Social Value, Carbon Reduction impacting Public Sector
• Knowledge and experience in using CEMAR and PRISM (desirable but not essential)
