We’re looking for an ambitious and motivated analyst to join our Commercial Energy team.

To be successful in this role you'll have some commercial experience in the energy industry gained through a placement year or internship. This could also be your next career step having already gained some graduate experience.

You'll need to be highly analytical and able to apply that skill set to modelling activities, demonstrating a good understanding of the drivers of the P&L, so you can help optimise our pricing and margin capture activities across the portfolio. Here's the key skills and attributes we're looking for you to bring to this role:

Graduate (or equivalent) in a STEM subject

Some commercial and analytical experience within the energy industry, with experience in driving positive commercial and risk management outcomes

Portfolio/risk modelling ability

You'll ideally be familiar with data tools such as SQL, Looker and Python

Like to take real accountability for making things happen

You’re curious, have attention to detail and want to understand the bigger picture

Have a talent for making complex concepts easy for others to understand

Are an empathetic team player who collaborates closely with others.

The Energy team at UW is accountable for driving the optimisation of our energy P&L, ensuring our customers get the most from their energy provision. The team look to ensure existing customers have the best deals whilst future-proofing our energy supply and contracts. It's a team of absolute experts who thrive on cutting through the complexity to get to the heart of the commercial drivers of our success.

You'll report into the Head of Commercial Contracts and work in a small team with high impact.

This role supports the delivery of a substantial and growing energy P&L with modelling of our metering portfolio and P&L, highlighting the key commercial levers on our contracts to optimise our activities, working with colleagues to determine risk and commercial strategy and providing key input into the management of major supplier relationships. Your key responsibilities will be:

P&L forecasting on our metering base

Commercial optimisation of UW metering contracts to capture margin

Sensitivity & scenario analysis for forecasting and risk management purposes

Work closely with colleagues in other areas of the business to support the metering operation with efficient commercial delivery

Provision of ad-hoc insight and analysis to senior management for decision making
