Claims Manager, Energy and Marine

The Role

Canopius are now recruiting for a Manager of the Energy and Marine Lines of Business. The expansive portfolio includes Renewables, Upstream Energy, Downstream and Power and Energy Liabilities and Marine classes and encompasses a wide range of products and risks. Our Underwriters have extensive experience inside and outside of the insurance market and are market leading experts in their specialist areas. This breadth of underwriting portfolio provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on claims across different risks, jurisdictions, and industries.

Responsibilities:

Implementing the claims strategy and working collaboratively with other members of the global claims team.

Driving high performance by every member of the team through goal setting, motivation, performance monitoring, feedback, and training.

Providing effective supervision of higher value, complex claims within the global Energy, Marine, Engineering, and Specie portfolios.

Proactively managing the claims portfolios and handling claims through initial notification, investigation, resolution, interim and final payments within authority levels.

Driving excellent claim outcomes and monitoring results, ensuring that the portfolio is appropriately reserved at all times.

Providing high-quality reporting on claims.

Identifying training requirements and providing training and development to relevant team members.

Ensuring effective oversight and control of any outsource partners.

Developing and maintaining key relationships with key customers internally and externally.

Establishing and developing a network of peer contacts at other organizations in the market.

Skills and Experience:

Experienced claims practitioner with experience in handling Energy and /or Marine claims, ideally in a lead capacity.

Willingness to take responsibility and accountability.

Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, networking, influencing and negotiation skills.

Have built solid relationships with clients and demonstrate strong client management skills.

Understanding and application of legal and regulatory issues.

Demonstrable leadership / management experience.
