About the Role

The role reports into the Head of Build (this will change to Head of Assessment and Design in the future) and in this position you will be responsible for leading on all CAD requests to ensure designs request are met.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilise Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) to create comprehensive architectural layouts for EV charging bays and hubs.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers and other professionals to ensure seamless integration of the charging infrastructure
  • Stay up to date with current regulations and ensure safety is a top priority
  • Produce accurate 2D layouts of existing sites, identifying potential obstacles and working to overcome these as you work through the proposal
  • Generate precise 3D models and renders to effectively communicate design concepts to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate actively in problem solving sessions and design meetings, contributing inventive ideas and solutions to optimise the layout, functionality, and user experience of the EV charging facilities.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulations concerning EV charging and sustainable design, and incorporate this knowledge into design proposals.
  •  Work closely with pre construction managers to ensure timely completion of design phases
  • Review and refine designs based on feedback from clients, engineers, and other team members, ensuring the final plans align with all project objectives.
  • Maintain well-organised and up-to-date project files, CAD drawings, and related documentation.
  • Production of Planning documents for submission to Local Authorities

The successful candidate will have the following attributes and skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and other relevant design tools
  • Previous experience in architectural design, preferably including projects related to EV charging infrastructure or sustainable design
  • Sound comprehension of architectural principles, spatial planning, and building regulations
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to accurately translate design concepts into technical drawings
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and convey design ideas to non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of electric vehicle charging technologies and their integration into architectural design is advantageous
  • Experience in Feasibility, Planning, Tender and Construction drawings is essential
  • Excellent planning and time management skills
  • Microsoft Office skills/experience (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  •  Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD
  •  Precise attention to detail
  •  Ability to manage workloads and meet demanding timescales
  •  Able to prioritise and adapt to evolving project priorities and demands
  • Qualifications and Education

    Certifications and Professional Development

  • City & Guilds Qualifications: In CAD and technical drawing.
  • NVQ/SVQ: National Vocational Qualification/Scottish Vocational Qualification in Engineering Design or Construction.
  • Professional Certifications:

  • Autodesk Certified User (ACU): For AutoCAD, Revit, and other Autodesk products.
  • SolidWorks Certifications: Such as Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) for mechanical design.
  • Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD Software: Knowledge of software like AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, MicroStation, or industry-specific programs.
  • Understanding of UK Drafting Standards: Familiarity with British Standards (BS) for technical drawings and industry-specific regulations.
  • Technical Drawing and Design: Ability to create and interpret detailed technical drawings and specifications.
  • 3D Modeling: Competence in creating 3D models and simulations.

  • Location

    The business is currently based in our offices in Southwark. The position is full-time with hybrid working available (3 days in the office).
