Our multi-national FMCG client uses promotional items in a variety of ways within the marketing and trade marketing functions, playing an integral role in supporting trade relationships and building engagement with consumers.
Promotional items are typically branded, and cover categories such as outdoor furniture, glassware and gifts/gadgets.
The Buyer, Global Procurement – Promotional Items is responsible for the following:
• Execute the sector strategy for all Promotional Items spend in Europe inc Russia and Turkey
• Lead sourcing programmes across the category to deliver benefits of cost, control, quality & innovation through RFIs, tenders, production & process optimisation
• Build sustainable supplier relationships & manage contracts with key suppliers
• Spend Analysis
• Leverage knowledge and networking skills with regional European procurement teams & external sources to drive best possible results & evolve the management of the category.
Skills/experience required:
• Preferably degree educated
• Proven experience within marketing categories, ideally within a procurement role and with some client-side experience in a global FMCG, consumer health (or similar)
• Highly effective inter-personal skills to develop relationships with key stakeholders, and clearly communicate plans and benefits to gain buy-in / compliance in a non-mandate culture to all levels
• Proven ability to work within a complex matrix organization with frequent changes
• Ability to work remotely from key stakeholders and utilize a range of communication tools, (e.g. webex, tele-presence) to communicate within a diverse culture (often working with people for whom English is a 2nd language)
• Energy and enthusiasm to drive results
• Keen analytical mind and excellent IT software skills
• Solid computer skills; experience in SAP is a plus
• Effective communicator; excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to travel within Europe as required
