Role

The CFP Energy (RMS) Business Manager will help achieve strategic objectives by partnering with the business on development and implementation of commercial initiatives. The Business Manager will act as a key interface across the organisation, providing planning, prioritisation, budgeting and resource management input and support.


This involves working closely with commercial and support function stakeholders to ensure initiatives are driven forward with support throughout the organisation. The Business Manager will also promote operational excellence and support operational initiatives by providing business and subject matter knowledge input and facilitating commercial engagement.


Key responsibilities:

  • Facilitate commercial functions in creating business strategy and operating plans.
  • Provide commercial steer into implementation of business strategy and operating plan.
  • Ensure the business priorities are set and clearly communicated to support functions and incorporate full deal life cycle considerations.
  • Represent the business in operational meetings to facilitate effective implementation.
  • Support and drive the delivery of commercial change (support business plans, manage annual planning etc.).
  • Support commercial financial (profitability, cost cutting) analysis.

Additional Expectations:

  • Adhere to all relevant Group- and company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to incident/breach management process and remediation.
  • Champion positive organisational change and lead change initiatives where required.
  • Identify opportunities for people, process or technology change and communicate these to the relevant governance forum and/or change programme team.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the role/function and wider business.


Ideal Candidate:

  • Good commodities knowledge within a front office environment – Energy desirable.
  • Experience with delivering or supporting change for projects or major business transformations.
  • Have the initiative to propose solutions and act independently, and the confidence to effectively challenge the status quo.
  • Able to understand ‘the bigger picture’.
  • Able to cope with business change and prioritise within a busy and challenging environment.
  • Strong commercial understanding of energy business and ability to understand business issues.
  • Previous experience in a similar or supportive role within the commodities industry would be a significant advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication and analytical skills, with the ability to present and articulate ideas and engage with a diverse (and sometimes non-specialist) audience.
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders in complex business environments.
  • Ability to deliver time critical projects within designated schedules.
  • Project management or business management experience would be an advantage.
