Fitch Ratings Global Leverage Finance Research is currently seeking an Associate Director based out of our London, UK office.

The Global Leveraged Finance Research Group is responsible for producing a portfolio of research across the US and European Leveraged Finance Markets. This includes research on defaults and distress, credit performance focused quarterly reports and ad hoc commentary that speaks to timely and noteworthy trends in the market.

  • Support senior members of the Leveraged Finance team in the publication of flagship research
  • Be able to write effectively on analytical topics related to distressed debt and defaults, as well as general market developments
  • Preparing market updates and presentation materials
  • Conduct occasional analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing credit quality of companies in the Leverage Finance sector; occasional presentation of such analysis to internal credit rating committees
  • Maintain ongoing communications with the development team to ensure robust leverage finance data infrastructure
  • Conduct and/or present at external meetings, conferences, and/or investor roundtables
  • Participate in the evaluation of other credits within Corporates, as well as other related credit groups.
  • What You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree at minimum, CFA a plus but not required
  • Relevant experience, including some coverage or knowledge of the Leveraged Finance market
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word; knowledge of Access a plus
  • Computer programming skills a plus (Python, SQL)
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
  • Ability to take responsibility and ownership of projects and run them independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change 
  • Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment 
  • Ability to guide and mentor junior members of the team 
  • What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • Has a professional background in capital markets and/or credit analysis and well-developed financial statement analysis skills
  • Has a demonstrated understanding of and a keen interest in Leverage Finance, distressed debt, restructuring and/or bankruptcy analysis
  • Has solid understanding of corporate finance and individual issuer credit analysis
  • Has strong process and project management skills
  • Is able to act as a point person between the tech development team, CPG, Enhanced Analytics, analytical sector teams and other members of the Lev Finance team
  • Has quantitative and database management expertise
  • Has strong quantitative skills and ability to efficiently work with vast sets of data
  • Has strong writing skills
  • Wants to deepen their exposure to and understanding of the debt capital markets; 
  • Has strong communication skills displayed by a pattern of leadership and the ability to proactively and successfully interact with various stakeholders, both within and outside of the organization.
