The project: 

Mace has been appointed on a framework for a transport client. The successful assistant risk manager (project not enterprise) will work on large-scale complex rail, road, bus or even property related projects. Mace consult will provide project controls/PMO services for the new build construction work of multiple secure sites throughout the UK.

  • You’ll be responsible for:

  • Understanding overall project process in line with Mace way (control centre) from design through to handover

  • Awareness of current methodologies & tools to manage /analyse risk.

  • Good attention to detail & able to validate, draft (as required) & check cost management reports produced.

  • Understanding overall project process in line with Mace Way (control centre) from design through to handover.

  • Awareness of current methodologies & tools to manage/analyse risk management data & information related to projects (e.g. MS Excel, Risk Hive, PRA, ARM, Primavera P6).

  • Introductory & increasing level of competency of core risk management related applications. 

  • Good attention to detail & able to validate, draft (as required) & check risk management reports produced.

  • Interpersonal skills - focuses on solving conflict not blaming others, remains open to other viewpoints & tries new things, listens.

  • Teamwork - balances team & individual responsibilities, gives & welcomes feedback, puts team success above own interests.

  • Quality Management - looks for ways to improve & promote quality.

  • You’ll need to have:

  • Good understanding of construction projects, decencies and interfaces within the project lifecycle.

  • Deep domain knowledge of providing risk leadership in one or more sectors (e.g. rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent working knowledge of current methodologies & tools related to managing projects (e.g. MS Excel, Risk Hive, PRA, ARM, Primavera P6).

  • Extremely collaborative, with ability to build excellent working relationships and have very high political sensitivity and ethics .

  • Excellent attention to detail & able to validate & check risk management inputs, recording & reports produced, providing basic commentary & analysis.

  • Able to persuade & influence clients, consultants, suppliers & colleagues.

  • Infrastructure and complex project procurement experience.

  • A degree or equivalent with professional work experience in one or more specific disciplines in the construction, programme, project or commercial management disciplines. 

  • Achieved or are working towards membership/fellow/certified fellow status with one or more professional institutions.
