Job Specification: Assistant Quantity Surveyor/Estimator - Painting and Decorating Subcontractor

Location: Manchester

Position: Assistant to Intermediate Level Quantity Surveyor/Estimator

Salary: £25,000 - £40,000 DOE

Role Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their skills in the painting trade, though a background in this specific area is not required. The successful candidate will support the Senior QS/Estimator, focusing on reading and interpreting drawings, pricing tenders, and visiting sites to ensure accuracy and quality. Being IT proficient is a must.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and pricing of tenders, primarily focusing on schemes valued at £1M+.
Read and interpret drawings and plans to produce accurate measurements and costings.
Visit project sites to verify measurements and make any necessary amendments to initial estimates.
Work closely with Project Managers and Contract Managers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Support the Senior QS/Estimator in day-to-day duties, including client and subcontractor liaison.
Ensure all work is completed to the highest standard, reflecting the company's reputation for perfectionism.

Qualifications and Experience:
Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or Estimating role within the construction industry.
Open to learning about the painting and decorating trade.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and plans.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
