We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced social worker to join our community social work team to cover maternity leave. Your role will involve working with adults to identify and understand their support requirements and to meet these in a way that both maximises independence and helps prevent future need. Using person centred approaches this includes working with community and voluntary groups as well as utilising reablement and commissioned services.

You will need to be confident and experienced in all Legislative Frameworks associated with Adult Social Care, linked to your social work practice. You will be able to work autonomously and bring with you excellent problem solving and decision making skills. Be confident in all areas of communication and have proven negotiation skills. In turn through training and support we will offer you help in developing your social work role ensuring you have protected CPD time and offering access to regular formal and informal supervision and diverse training packages.

You will need to be passionate about supporting our community in Blackpool, be committed to your role as a social worker and keen to grow and develop in line with SWE protocols. In turn we can offer you access to a visible management team who will collectively offer an Induction to support your transition into a new role.

Role Purpose

The provision of professional social work support and interventions to enable individuals to maximise and maintain their independence and quality of life in a range of settings.

To support individuals, their families and carers to ensure that their social care needs are met by undertaking holistic assessments, the provision of advice and information and facilitating access to a range of services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To undertake assessments/reviews and where appropriate the commissioning of services in line with departmental policies and procedures and statutory guidance eg: The Care Act (2014).

To understand and take appropriate part in the department’s safeguarding adults’ procedures. This includes, identification, investigation and at H2 taking the role of Safeguarding Lead.

To work closely with other teams, including undertaking joint assessments, with providers, carers and external agencies to deliver outcome focused services to individuals and their families

To fully comply with departmental policies and procedures and the Health and Care Professionals Council’s Code of Conduct for Social Workers including the capability framework.

To comply with the requirements of the Care Act (2014) by empowering individuals to make informed choices

Maintain up to date knowledge of current issues and developments relating to social care and the wider health and social care agenda.

Prepare for, attend and actively participate in professional supervision and staff meetings

Fully utilise the Department’s IT facilities to maintain accurate records and record decisions in line with both statutory and departmental requirements and comply with administrative and financial procedures

You must have:

  • A professional qualification in social work and experience of working with Children’s
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
